Life is a journey...
Where should we begin, as this is quite a story to tell...
Let's start at the beginning, in Germany, where Adelheid and Stefan - two very different people with very different backgrounds - had a dream. The dream was not fully formed, but it involved leaving Germany with all its rules and constraints behind and starting fresh in a country that was warm and welcoming. A place where freedom was cherished above all else, and where one could truly shape their narrative.
Stefan was a chef, while Adelheid had operated an organic shop for many years. Fate intervened when Adelheid's sister, who lived in Knysna, South Africa, extended an invitation for Adelheid and her family to visit. It was here that the affection for South Africa first bloomed.
In 2014, the decision was made to sell all belongings in order to purchase a mill and a pasta machine to start a dream. However, the reality proved to be more challenging than anticipated. Life's challenges in South Africa are difficult to navigate, and often it seems as though success is out of reach.
Since then, much has changed. The demand for ancient grains and organic food has increased significantly, as has the success
of the Grain Mill.
Despite the challenges, the business remains a family affair, with Adelheid and her four children at the helm.
So, what motivates us to keep moving forward?
The belief that there is always room for improvement.
